This is a beautiful sweater for any occasion with any skirt, shorts or jeans. The sweater has a collar which is not quite white. It blends well with the black. The bow is probably detachable, (I didn't look at it at the time I received it) It really is not a big bow and hardly noticeable. Because the bow is black, it doesn't stand out. This sweater is very soft and cuddly.
