Fell Apart After First Gentle Washing

I bought two of these dresses. They are adorable, but the fabric started to shred after the first wash. I used a cold, gentle "handwash" cycle in the washer and hung them to dry. Now, after several gentle. cold washes and no dryer, they have completely fallen apart.
